The Use of Music in Second Language Acquisition

In my podcast, I talked about the effects of music in the First Language Acquisition process and in this video I am talking about the effects of music in the Second Language Acquisition process.
Firstly, music lowers affective barriers and assists in making students more relaxed, thereby more receptive to language learning.
Secondly, the use of song and linguistic play in the language classroom to increase individual language-learner motivation.
Also, when music is situated as an aid to learning strategies in the language classroom, both cognitive and metacognitive strategies are enhanced, affective exploration is increased and the student is more receptive to language inputs.
As a last but not least statement, use of music is good for memorization and learning the pronunciation points.
It is clear that use of music is necessary for acquiring a second language.

The Use of Music in First Language Acquisition

The possible link between music and language have always been interested many researchers. They have tried to find whether they affect each other in any way in the language learning process. Eventually, there really seems to be connection between both. For years, music is used as a tool to help learners feel less stressed and more motivated, at the same time it is used to help the learner with their linguistic development. Since birth, babies start to listen and produce sound without distinguishing between music and language, singing and speech. That is, they accept both as a linguistic input. Nursery rhymes and lullabies are some of the first language input that occurs with enough repetition to encourage memorization and therefore acquisition. The use of music is certainly significant to First Language Acquisition (FLA).
